Hard starting

Engine

Electric equipment

  • Battery is discharged.
  • Battery terminal(s) is not tightened correctly.
  • Fuse is blown.
  • Cord connection(s) is loose.
  • Spark plug cap(s) is removed.
  • Spark plug(s) is not securely tightened.
  • Spark plug(s) is burnt, dirty, damaged or bridged.

Fuel system

  • Fuel tank is not filled adequately with the correct fuel.(*)
  • Fuel cock is closed.
  • Poor quality fuel (stale or dirty gasoline) is used.
  • Piping and/or filter is clogged.
  • Carburetor is clogged.
  • Throttle is not at its START/SUCTION position.

Other

  • Poor compression of cylinder.
  • Overheat sensor is operated.(*)
  • Engine oil is emptied.(*)

Poor suction

Vacuum is not formed

Suction hose system is defective

  • Suction hose end is not into water.
  • Suction hose connections are not tight.
  • Suction hose packings are defective.
  • Suction hose is cracked or damaged.
  • Vacuum or pressure gauge hose is cracked.

Cocks are not closed

  • Pump drain cock is open.
  • Muffler drain cock is open.

Hose connections are loose

  • Vacuum hose.
  • Vacuum gauge hose.

Vacuum pump is not working

  • Strainer is clogged with dust.
  • V-belt is damaged.
  • Lever does not move.
  • Rotor or shaft is seized.
  • Vane(s) is broken.

Check valves, water stop valve are not working

  • They are clogged with dirt.
  • Diaphragm is cracked.

Mechanical seal

  • Dirt is attached to it.
  • it is worn out.

Throttle dial

  • it is not set at START/SUCTION position.

Vacuum is formed

  • Suction head is too high.
  • Suction strainer is clogged with dust, or plastic sheet, etc.

Vacuum is intermittently formed and lost

  • Suction hose end is near the water surface.
  • Suction hose is not held level.

Poor discharge

Suction hose

  • Suction height is too high.
  • Suction hose is too long.
  • Strainer is clogged with dirt, mud or plastic sheet.
  • Suction hose is clogged with dirt, or mud etc.
  • Connections are loose.
  • Gasket is poor seal.

Pump

  • Discharge valve handle is opened half.
  • Impeller is clogged with dirt or mud.
  • Guide vane is clogged with dirt or mud.
  • Impeller or guide vane is deformed.
  • Pump cover mounting bolts are loose.

Discharge

  • Nozzle diameter is not correct.
  • Play pipe with nozzle opening is insufficient.
  • Play pipe with nozzle is clogged.

Engine

  • Governor link is disconnected.
  • Throttle dial opening is insufficient.
  • Choke valve is not open.
  • Fuel cock opening is insufficient.
  • Fuel line is clogged.
  • Carburetor is clogged.
  • Spark plug is burnt, dirty or damaged.
  • Stale and dirty gasoline is used.
  • Fuel is not filled adequately into fuel tank.
